Terms of service

Effective: 2026-07-05. These terms cover TabBoy, the Chrome extension published by FlowCrate, and this documentation site. TabBoy is free, open-source, and requires no account in its current release (V1). Using the extension or this site means you accept the terms below.

  • TabBoy is released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under that license’s terms.
  • The software is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. See the “No warranty” section below.
  • The FlowCrate and TabBoy names and logos are not covered by the MIT license; forks should use their own name and branding.
  • Use TabBoy lawfully and don’t use it to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to any service, including Chrome Web Store infrastructure or third-party sites you browse.
  • Don’t use the GitHub repository, issues, or discussions to post spam, abuse, or content unrelated to TabBoy.
  • Rules you author and import are your responsibility. TabBoy blocks unsafe operators ($where, arbitrary JavaScript, remote code) at the schema level, but you’re responsible for the destructive actions you confirm.
  • All rules, collections, saved groups, and scan data live in your own browser storage; TabBoy does not hold a copy anywhere else in V1.
  • You are solely responsible for backing up your data (via JSON export) before uninstalling the extension, clearing browser data, or switching devices.
  • Destructive actions (closing tabs, deleting collections or groups) always require your explicit confirmation; TabBoy is not liable for actions you confirm.

TabBoy V1 has no paid tier. If an optional TabBoy Pro subscription or bring-your-own-key AI tier ships later, billing, plan changes, cancellation, and refunds for that subscription will be governed by FlowCrate’s own terms of service and handled through your FlowCrate account. This page will be updated to link to those terms before the subscription becomes available. Using the free, local parts of the extension will never require accepting a paid-tier agreement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • TabBoy is provided without warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
  • FlowCrate is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the extension or this site, including data loss from actions you confirmed.
  • Nothing here limits liability where it cannot be limited under mandatory law (for example, for gross negligence or willful misconduct, depending on your jurisdiction).

Material changes are reflected here before they take effect and called out in the changelog. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
